Hi all, Unfortunately there has been some issues with the work to the extraction systems on the roof and as such estates have requested an extension to the roof shutdown until the end of Wednesday next week (15th January). As such the labs will remain closed until 0830am on Thursday 16th January. I know this will inconvenience people who are already booked in but can you try and rearrange your bookings accordingly? If there are any issues then please let me know. Research Lab closures

Hi Everyone, The Earth research labs will close at 16:30 this Thursday 19th December for a much needed break. Some of our labs will re-open on Thursday 2nd Jan, while others (due to extended leave) will remain closed until Monday 6th Jan. If you're looking to access a lab on the 2nd or 3rd of Jan, please contact lab managers directly to check if it's open. The CELTIC clean labs and instrument rooms, along with the fume hoods in the Aquatic Biology Lab (2.34) and the Geomicrobiology Lab (2.19), will remain closed for an extra week until Mon 13th January due to essential roof work scheduled from Mon 6th to Friday 10th of Jan. Dear all, You may or may not have received the below communication from the university regarding the building closures on the 2nd, 3rd and week beginning 6th Jan. I spoke with our HoS this morning and she is also in the dark regarding this but it has little implication for CELTIC as we the labs will remain fully closed until the 13th January 2025. During this time there will be no access to the chemistry rooms or to the instruments. Distilled HCL supply

Hi guys, Hope everyone is doing good and getting ready for the holidays 🙂 Just to give everyone who will working until the closure a heads up - the distillation system in the Ultra clean lab for HCL is broken, so the stills upstairs must be used. However, since we don't have enough bottles to make and keep extra, there will only be about half a bottle of single distilled HCL supply upstairs. Please take this into account when working. The single distillation will continue as normal after this.
