Hi all,
Just to give you with another update on the status of the iCAP RQs. We have now found that the detector on the RQ solution is life expired and will need replacing. I will raise a ticket with Thermo and they will need to send an engineer to replace it. Likely time frame is 1-2 weeks (but that is not a binding time frame).
I will update when both are back online.
Cheers,
Edward

Hi all,
As promised your afternoon update on the iCAP. I have not been able to move the ASX-560 autosampler over to solution RQ as we have had an issue with the laser RQ while Ece is on some dedicated laser training with ESI. As such we have had to move the laser over to the solution RQ. Once the issue is rectified with the laser RQ I can move things back around and try the ASX-560 autosampler on the solution RQ.
Cheers,
Edward

Hi everyone,
Picking up from the lab meeting - from June 7th onwards the lab cleaning schedule is empty. Instead of assigning people and having everyone wonder which day, if they will be available or on holiday, would everyone please sign up on days they would like to/ are available to clean? We can try this system out instead of a poll on Teams.
To make it fair, if you will be using the lab facilities often, please do sign-up. If not enough people sign up for a session, I will be emailing people to have them join if they've been in the lab very often but haven't/won't clean in a while. Fingers crossed this system works better for everyone!
Many thanks,
Sofiya

Hi All,
The WR beaker cleaning vessel has been left unlabelled on the large hotplate, and it appears to have been like this for some time (weeks).
Myself and Tyrone need to use this to clean some beakers ASAP, so if you are the current user of the vessel, could you please label it with your name and stage of cleaning? so that we can make a plan of when we can use it again. Alternatively, let me know and I can do this.
All the best
George
Hi all,
For those that were down to clean the lab today you can sit this one out as it’s still a mess with Neoma parts and boxes everywhere. We will organise a deep clean when I am back from leave.
Cheers,
Edward

Hi all,
I am on leave for the next two weeks (returning 13th may). Sofiya is also away for the next week. During this time Lizan will provide day to day operational support to CELTIC and should be the first port of call for issues arising. Lindsey will be available for higher level issues in my absence. Any HF work should be approved by Lindsey.
Cheers,
Edward

Hi all,
Note the technician from sartiorius will calibrate the balances this Wednesday. If you were planning on doing any weighing then note that Wednesday will not be a day for this.

The Sartorius engineer will be in the school from Tuesday 24th April to service all the balances. It will take about an hour for each balance to be serviced so please allow this time when the engineer comes to the labs. If a balance is in use when the engineer turns up, then a convenient time for the service can be arranged within the timescale of the visit.
Also, please make sure that the balances and balance areas are clean and tidy and free from any chemicals.
Thank you,
Tony

Hi all,
There will be no lab meeting tomorrow morning as I’m tied up with the Neoma still.

Hi all,
Just a quick update about the Neoma which is shortly arriving in the lab. The mass spec will be delivered from Thermo HQ on the 25th (coming Monday) and be stored at ground level before being craned down into the basement and wheeled into the lab on the 2nd April. The install engineers will be on site from the 8th April for roughly 1 month. This one is a little more involved than the triton as the instrument comes as 3 large modules which must be assembled in situ.
During this period most of my time will be taken up working with the engineers so I won’t be readily available. Sofyia will continue to support with some of the operational things like purchasing and day to day running of the clean labs.
Some of you may have seen that the 193 laser has now been removed from the lab and the 8900 moved to its new location. The 8900 will remain out of service for a while until some new fittings arrive for the extraction. The Nu will be quasi-operational but any requests to use it must go through me, Morten or Marc.
Please try and not use the lab on the 2nd April unless it is urgent as there will be quite a lot of disruption to access as we move the Neoma through the building and into the lab.
I know this is a period of yet more disruption but this represents a significant investment in our capabilities as a lab and we are one of the few facilities in the world with such infrastructure :)
Cheers,
Edward
