Dear all,
We are pleased to announce further details of the second meeting of the UK Metric Geometry & Analysis Network on Friday, 30 August, in Durham.
Registration is now open on the website
https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fconferenc….
The speakers will be:
- Asma Hassannezhad (Bristol) *TBC
- Ana Lucía García Pulido (Stirling)
- Mattia Magnabosco (Oxford)
- Ambrose Yim (Cardiff)
We are planning a similar schedule to that of the previous meeting in Cardiff: the meeting will begin at 09:00 and end at 15:15 to enable people to return home on the evening of 30 August.
We have a very limited amount of financial support available for those who would otherwise be unable to attend the meeting, with early-career researchers given priority. If you would like to apply for support, please register before 9 August 2024 and check the appropriate box on the registration form.
We are trying to secure some affordable rooms in university accommodation. If you would be interested in this option, if available, please check the appropriate box on the registration form.
We strongly encourage you to register early, so that we can make decisions on financial support and provide the caterers with accurate numbers and information on dietary requirements.
Please feel free to distribute this announcement to anyone else who may be interested.
Kind regards,
Martin and Fernando
We gratefully acknowledge the support of the London Mathematical Society through the Joint Research Group scheme. This network is supported by a project that has received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (Grant agreement No. 802689; PI: A Mondino). The network is also supported by a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship [grant number MR/W01176X/1; PI: J Harvey].

Dear colleagues,
in our research project at the University of Vienna
A new Geometry for Einstein’s Theory of Relativity and beyond<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fef-geomet…>
at the intersection of Lorentzian geometry, General Relativity, Metric geometry and Optimal Transport, a call for PhD-students and PostDocs is now open:
* up to five PhD positions<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fef-geomet…>
* up to four PostDoc positions<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fef-geomet…>
The project received major funding by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) in the framework of its “Emerging Fields” program (see https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fef-geomet…).
In particular, we are expecting to fill up to five Ph.D. positions, each for a duration of three years, and up to four PostDoc positions, each for a duration of two years, with a possible renewal for another year, all starting from fall 2024 (October or later). We are looking for exceptional candidates with a strong background in at least one, preferably several, of the following fields: Riemannian/Lorentzian geometry, functional analysis and measure theory, optimal transport, metric geometry, calculus of variations, geometric analysis, mathematical General Relativity.
We would appreciate if you could share the call in your group and research network.
Thank you & best wishes,
Michael Kunzinger, Raquel Perales, Chiara Rigoni, Clemens Sämann, Roland Steinbauer

Dear all,
I am writing to the mailing list to advertise a trimester period to be held at the Hausdorff Institute in Bonn Jan-April 2025, focusing on Metric Analysis (and Metric Geometry).
More info at the website: https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.mathe…
In case you are interested to participate to the whole period, or to a subset of it, the Hausdorff Institute has funds to support visits and you can apply via the website above.
Hope to see you there!
Best wishes,
Andrea
Dear All,
This message is going mostly to those who registered for the first meeting of the UK Metric Geometry & Analysis Network at Cardiff (https://sites.google.com/view/uk-metric-geometry-network/home<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fsites.goo…>) or who asked to be subscribed in some other way, but I am also including a small number of people who I feel confident will be interested in joining this list. If I am wrong about that, please forgive me and send an email to uk-metric-geometry-analysis-unsubscribe(a)mailman.cardiff.ac.uk<mailto:uk-metric-geometry-analysis-unsubscribe@mailman.cardiff.ac.uk> to remove yourself.
I had a great time seeing most of you here at Cardiff earlier this month. I'm looking forward to our next meeting and we'll send out a "Save the Date" on this list as soon as we've settled on one.
This mailing list can be used by any of you to contact the UK Metric Geometry and Analysis community. The intention is that it should be used principally for announcements of conferences, workshops, jobs or other opportunities that will be of general interest. If it seems that it's being used too broadly, we might need to begin moderating it, but for the time being I will leave it completely open.
To post to this list, send your message to:
uk-metric-geometry-analysis(a)mailman.cardiff.ac.uk<mailto:uk-metric-geometry-analysis@mailman.cardiff.ac.uk>
You can unsubscribe or make adjustments to your options via email by sending a message to:
uk-metric-geometry-analysis-request(a)mailman.cardiff.ac.uk<mailto:uk-metric-geometry-analysis-request@mailman.cardiff.ac.uk>
with the word 'help' in the subject or body (don't include the quotes), and you will get back a message with instructions. You will need your password to change your options, but for security purposes, this password is not included here. You will need to set the password, which I think you can do by going to mailman.cardiff.ac.uk<https://mailman.cardiff.ac.uk/>. Let me know if you have any trouble with this.
Best wishes
John.

Hi Martin,
Just setting up the other mailing list now. Can you let me know if this worked properly or if you're seeing a bunch of attachments again?
Best wishes
