How does curiosity influences learning across development?
We are recruiting participants aged 12-14 to take part in a paid research study about curiosity and question asking. The study will take place at the Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC) and will involve one visit lasting approximately 2.5 hours. During this session, participants will complete fun computer-based activities involving short stories, trivia questions, and question-generation tasks. We will also ask how curious they feel about different topics and explore how question asking supports learning during adolescence. A trained researcher will explain all tasks before the study begins, and participants are free to stop at any time. Participants will receive £20 compensation for taking part.
Start Date: June 12, 2026
  Location: CUBRIC
  Age Eligibility: 12-14 (years)
