Dear Geochemists,
It is around that time of year when PhD opportunities are advertised. This year, the Geochemistry Group plan to compile a list of all the geochemistry-related PhD projects available in the UK (or abroad, for UK applicants).
To help us compile the list, I have put together a short google form to enter all the relevant info: https://forms.gle/6RPRNBecHNnV89By9<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fforms.gle…>. So if you have/know of a project you would like adding to the list, please fill out the form ASAP.
We will then circulate the compiled list on our website and through this mailing list in November.
All the best
George
Dear Geochemists,
We are forwarding a reminder on behalf of the Geological Society that the closing date to nominate for the Geological Society 2025 awards is Monday 14 October 2024.
Nominations can be for all award categories from early career awards to career achievement medallists and this year the biennial Aberconway medal recognising distinction in the practice of applied or economic geoscience with special reference to work in industry will be awarded. Here is the Awards, Medals and Funds brochure<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.geols…> with further information on the website<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.geols…>.
In regards the Geological Society's Early Career Funds and President Award, the Awards Committee has been revising the wording of the descriptors on the website to make them more inclusive of all potential candidates falling under the early career category. The wording will be updated for future award cycles but in the meantime, the nomination form is updated to include an additional box where the nominator can give a brief statement as to why the candidate is "early career" to indicate some flex with regards the current descriptors.
Please email the Committee's secretary awards(a)geolsoc.org.uk<mailto:awards@geolsoc.org.uk> should you have any questions in regards nominations.
Best wishes
George
Dear geochemists,
Mailing List:
We have made some changes to the way our mailing list operates, which we hope will make it easier for the community to share relevant opportunities. You can now subscribe and unsubscribe using the following link: https://mailman.cardiff.ac.uk/postorius/lists/geochemistry.group.mailman.ca… and through the website. If you know of others who may be interested in joining the mailing list then please share this link!
If you have anything you would like to share with the group, then you can now email to the mailing list address: geochemistry.group(a)mailman.cardiff.ac.uk<mailto:geochemistry.group@mailman.cardiff.ac.uk>. These emails will then be moderated and/or collated before being shared to avoid any spamming (please bear with us while we iron out any teething issues with the new mailing list).
