Dear Colleagues,
I’m very pleased to announce the launch of Advances in Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry (AGC -http://www.agcj.org<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.agcj.o…>), a new, community-run, and Diamond Open Access journal, which I’m sure will be of great interest to many in our community. We intend to open for submissions from January 20, 2025. AGC offers a unique opportunity to publish in a journal that is entirely managed by scientists, free from the constraints of large-scale publishers. It is part of the Guild of Diamonds, joining a wider collective of established Diamond Open Access journals in Earth Sciences, including Seismica, Volcanica, and Tektonika.
The journal will focus on long-format submissions from the broad fields of geochemistry and cosmochemistry, comparable in scope to those found in GCA or Chemical Geology. A highly capable and diverse team of editors has been assembled to handle submissions and can be browsed here https://journals.uu.se/AGC/handlingeditors<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fjournals.…>.
We are very keen to encourage submissions from across our field and to ensure the journal is well-prepared for its launch, we’re asking people to register their interest in submitting to AGC via this form:https://forms.gle/GHHmHioBdRSijPas7<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fforms.gle…>. This will help us gauge the volume of anticipated submissions and plan accordingly to manage the workloads of our team. If you are planning a submission, please make sure to follow the instructions and author guidelines here https://journals.uu.se/AGC/about/submissions<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fjournals.…>.
For more information about the journal and the team behind it, please visit our website:https://journals.uu.se/AGC/about/editorialTeam<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fjournals.…>.
Thank you for supporting this initiative. We’re really looking forward to your contributions and feedback as we build this journal together.
All the best,
Elliot Carter

Dear All,
We have now compiled a list of UK Geochemistry PhD projects. You can access the list here<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.goog…>. Please share this with students!
We will keep the list updated, so please let me know if you have any other projects you would like adding to the list.
All the best

Dear geochemists,
A final reminder to sign up to our ECR Skills session on “Things I wish I knew when I started my PhD…” which is next Tuesday (26th November) at 12 noon (GMT).
Attendance is free, but you’ll need to register here: https://geochemistry.group/upcoming-events/<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgeochemis…>
This session will be a live panel discussion and Q+A, with a range of panellists from different areas of geochemistry providing their tips and advice on completing a PhD. The panellists are Xianyi Liu (Utrecht), Arianna Olivelli (Imperial), Laura Spencer (Cardiff), and Ross Whiteford (Royal Holloway).
Don’t miss out on this really informative session! Panellists will answer your questions and share tips and advice on how to manage your project, your supervisors, and complete a successful PhD!
When you register, you’ll also have the chance to submit your own questions for the panel!
If you have any questions please contact David Wilson (david.j.wilson(a)ucl.ac.uk<mailto:david.j.wilson@ucl.ac.uk>).
All the best
