Hi all,
All concentrated HCl and HNO3 acid waste must be collected in designed waste bottles and
disposed of via chemical waste.
In practice this means collecting waste from the stills in the low level lab and
concentrated acid used during beaker cleaning and transferring it to a waste bottle. We
will use old AR grade bottles to capture and store this waste. These will be stored in the
ventilated cabinets under the felcom cleaning hoods in both of the chemistry rooms. Once
full please let either myself or Lizan know so they can be removed and taken for disposal.
Please mark these waste bottles clearly with “Waste HCl/HNO3 for disposal”.
No HF acid waste can be disposed of down the sink!
Cheers,
Edward
