Hello everyone
I’m pleased to announce that our 3D Lab, CELTIC Lab and SEM lab have all been awarded bronze LEAF accreditation. Congratulations to Lizan, Duncan, Sofiya, Edward
and Sophie for this achievement and to Imane for her efforts leading on this work to help improve the sustainability and efficiency of our laboratories. Our Palaeo, Image and Geochemistry labs have also been submitted for audit and we are confident of more
positive news shortly 😊.
For those of you unfamiliar with the Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework (LEAF), this is a certification scheme designed to enable staff and students to
understand and improve the sustainability and efficiency of their laboratory areas. Many funding bodies, including UKRI, are moving towards including environmental criteria in funding calls and LEAF accreditation will contribute towards satisfying this requirement.
Technical teams across all Schools are working to ensure that all labs within Cardiff University reach LEAF bronze accreditation by summer 2025.
