Hi everyone,
As I mentioned in our lab meeting today, I will be presenting my postdoctoral research on
Thursday, 27 February at 5:00 pm (usually it starts around 5:10) as part of the Archaeology and Conservation Research Seminar Series and all of you are warmly invited to attend. My talk is of course co-authored with Richard Madgwick and entitled
"Reconstructing Prehispanic Maya Life and Death: An iso-histological study of diet, mobility, and mortuary practices". This talk provides a primer of Maya archaeology and how I integrate multiple methods, including strontium isotope analysis carried out in
CELTIC, to understand the lives and deaths of prehispanic Maya people, including if bodies were moved AFTER burial!
The seminar series is organised by Gwen Maurer and Eric Nordgren and is held in John Percival (JP) room 2.03 on Thursdays. I've attached a map of how to get to JP from Main, and once you go through the rotating door (or the side door, your preference), take
the stairs to the right of the porter's lodge (hidden behind a wall before you go into the cafe) up to floor 2, then go left and room 2.03 is the first door on the left. If you are unable to attend in person but would still like to see the talk, you are also
very welcome to contact Gwen or Eric about a live zoom link or a copy of the recording.
Wine will be served before the talk, and I welcome you to join us at the Pen and Wig afterwards.
I'm very much looking forward to sharing my research into Maya people and archaeology and am looking forward to seeing you there 🙂
Best,
Asta
