Hi all,
Just to let you know I will be away from Monday at a conference for a week and then on leave for 2 weeks. I’ll be back on the 22nd July.
Sofiya will be around for most of that time (bar a few days leave here and there) but is quite busy doing room inspections and PAT testing for the school. If you are planning any HF work then please check with Lindsey in advance as she will need to be onsite.
Finally, if you would like to join us tomorrow evening in the Pen and Wig to celebrate Sophie’s viva then we will be there from 5ish.
Cheers,
Edward

Hi all,
A few of us were thinking that it might be fun to put together a sweepstake for the Tour de France and were wondering if you might be interested in joining (this is not an exclusive list so feel free to pass it to anyone). We’ve done a bit of online research and here is how it would work. Should be a bit of fun for the next 3 weeks.
We randomly choose a team of riders for each player (there are 22 teams of 8 riders competing).
We assign team points based on the performance of the individual riders on the team (scoring below). Given different teams have different goals for the tour, we have tried to balance the scoring away from teams that are only after the general classification
£5 to enter a team, that will be divvied out to the top 3 at the end (something like £55 for first, £35 for second, £20 for third).
If you’re interested, just let me know
Account details are:

Dear all,
The end of the university financial year is rapidly approaching. Because of the way our accounts work we need to ensure that everything we have ordered is delivered before the end of July. As such we will not be ordering anything for the lab after the 1st July. If there is anything that is required then speak now or forever hold thy peace.
Cheers,
Edward

Hi everyone,
The face velocity on the hoods in both clean rooms is working, everything should be turned on. I would recommend doublechecking for each of the instruments.
I understand people are busy, it's a Monday morning. However, since only 2 people turned up to clean we weren't able to give everything as much attention as it needed. The clean room received the most attention, each of the hoods was cleaned in detail, but none of the other rooms were able to receive as much attention, so we will need to organize a big group clean to make-up for that.
Cheers,
Sofiya

Hi everyone,
Hope everyone is doing well and happy it's a Friday.
Following the power reset on Thursday, the airflow in the lab turned off. It should be turned on but I will check the face velocity on Monday for each of the hoods first thing in the morning (I'm currently on a conference so can't do it today).
Because the negative pressure switched off, the lab will need to be cleaned. Since this is an off-schedule clean, I will not be contacting people one by one to ask them to clean, there just isn't enough time to navigate every single person. Please, if you have time on Monday morning - just come and clean. It won't take long if we get many people, please just show up even if it's for 30 minutes and help clean.
Many thanks and have a good weekend,
Sofiya

Hi all,
Owing to a suspected power outage that has knocked out the AHU and extraction there will be no access to the CELTIC suite until further notice.

Hi everyone,
Apologies for forgetting to mention this in the lab meeting yesterday.
There are two new proposed timeslots for the lab meetings – Monday morning or Tuesday morning. I have put up a poll on Teams for you to choose a time you prefer. If you cannot vote then feel free to sent a message with a time. If you are fine with either timeslot – feel free to also drop a message (I’m not sure if you can select both, Teams polls is a bit picky).
Thanks everyone! Hope you can enjoy the sun while we have it 😊
Many thanks,
Sofiya

Dear all,
To reiterate what was said in the lab meeting for those that were not there. The lab is cleaned fortnightly on a Friday afternoon according to the rota made by Sofiya. If you cannot attend the cleaning that you are rostered for you must let Sofiya know. If you fail to attend your cleaning you will be added onto additional weeks to make up for the additional workload on your colleagues.
The protocol for cleaning the lab is found on teams in the induction and training folder. It is not up to individual users to decide if they want to follow this protocol or disagree with it. If you have an issue with the way I am asking you to clean the lab then please come and discuss it directly with me and not take it upon yourselves to tell others that it is pointless to clean in such a way.
Finally, I need to reiterate the nature of the way we operate in the lab. We need to talk to each other with respect, regardless of experience level. Just because one user may have experience of working in another lab does not give them a carte blanche to patronise or correct another user that has been trained only in our lab. Failure to work in a collegiate manner and treat your colleagues with the respect they deserve is not acceptable and I simply will not allow it to happen.
As always my door is always open if you want to come and chat about anything, no matter how minor.
Cheers,
Edward
